The Ford Transit 2.0 EcoBlue engine uses a wet timing belt — a timing belt that runs inside the engine, submerged in oil. Unlike traditional timing belts that sit outside the engine, this design is enclosed within the engine block.
While Ford designed this for quieter running and reduced maintenance, the wet belt is a known weak point. Over time, the belt can deteriorate, stretch, or snap — and when it does, the consequences are severe.
